Job Overview:
The Case Management Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering trauma-informed services to refugees and qualified immigrants, ensuring a positive resettlement experience and aiding clients in achieving self-sufficiency. This position is divided between two programs, with approximately 70% of the time dedicated to the Office of Refugee Resettlement's Program for Initial Resettlement (PIR) and 30% to the Home ARP program. The specialist collaborates closely with clients, colleagues, and external partners to create tailored service and self-sufficiency plans that address individual client needs and preferences. This involves utilizing a wide array of services and resources, including financial, medical, social, and vocational support, in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Case Management Specialist's responsibilities include providing case management services across two funding streams, ensuring compliance with program requirements and documentation standards. The specialist coordinates timely pre- and post-arrival services, ensuring clients receive essential support such as airport pickup, housing, food, medical care, and transportation orientation. They assist clients in securing permanent housing and guide them through the moving process. Conducting intake assessments to evaluate client needs is also a key duty. The specialist develops individualized self-sufficiency plans and SMART goals in collaboration with clients, ensuring that services align with their objectives. They are responsible for maintaining regular contact with clients, monitoring progress towards goals, and documenting interactions in accordance with program requirements. The specialist inputs client information into the IRC’s case documentation database, ETO, and collaborates with coworkers and community service providers to enhance client support. Additionally, they may train and lead volunteers and interns as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Case Management Specialist position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, with a strong preference for experience working with refugee and immigrant populations. The role requires excellent relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills, as well as the ability to effectively foster internal and external relationships. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an administrative role is preferred. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and effective time management skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in work is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to utilize digital tools for data entry and research.
