Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Design Support for the Global Programme on Migration & Displacement at ACT Alliance is designed to enhance the communication efforts of the program. This role is crucial as the program seeks to establish a strong and credible communication presence that amplifies locally led perspectives and shares evidence-based advocacy messages. The graphic design support will play a vital role in creating a clear, values-driven, and rights-based visual identity that aligns with ACT Alliance's broader communications framework. The Online Volunteer will be responsible for developing a comprehensive visual identity package, which includes branding elements such as fonts, colors, and tone. Additionally, the role involves designing various visual materials for social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, to effectively communicate the program's messages and engage with humanitarian, development, and policy audiences. The overall expectation is to contribute significantly to the program's visibility and impact through effective graphic design.

  • Developing a visual identity package for the Global Programme on Migration & Displacement, which encompasses branding elements such as fonts, colors, and tone.
  • Designing LinkedIn banners, images, and profile visuals specifically tailored for the program's channel.
  • Creating reusable post templates that include quote cards focusing on themes like faith, dignity, rights, and localization, as well as templates for event announcements, recaps, and key facts or data highlights related to migration and displacement.
  • Proposing a concise set of visual guidelines that cover layout, color usage, typography, iconography, and accessibility considerations to ensure that all materials are inclusive and effective.
  • Delivering editable design files in formats such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or similar tools to facilitate future use by the team, ensuring that the designs can be easily adapted and utilized for ongoing communication efforts.

Candidates for this position should possess a strong background in graphic design, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or similar tools. A solid understanding of branding principles and visual identity development is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate creativity and the ability to translate complex ideas into visually appealing designs. Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with the team and understand the program's objectives. Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, and experience in creating engaging content for these platforms will be advantageous. A commitment to the values and mission of ACT Alliance is also important.

Educational Background:
A degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. However, equivalent practical experience in graphic design may also be considered. Candidates should have a portfolio that showcases their design skills and previous work, demonstrating their ability to create impactful visual content.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in graphic design, ideally with a focus on branding and communication. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a track record of producing high-quality design work that aligns with organizational goals and effectively communicates key messages.
