Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 by Teh Francis Yai, based in the North West Region of Cameroon. The mission of GMM is to strengthen rural communities by providing essential tools, skills, and opportunities to underserved populations, enabling them to build sustainable and resilient lives. The organization focuses on breaking cycles of poverty through education, economic empowerment, and community development, emphasizing long-term, community-driven impact. GMM was established from the founder's personal experiences of growing up in a resource-limited environment, which shaped its core priorities of empowering rural women and ensuring children's access to education. Since 2017, GMM has held Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), reflecting its commitment to international standards in humanitarian and development work. GMM's programs include school sponsorship, women's empowerment, computer training, library services, school construction, solar energy distribution, peace building, and relief aid delivery. The organization operates primarily in the Boyo Division of the North West Region, with activities extending to the West, South West, Littoral, and Centre Regions of Cameroon. GMM's core values include participatory strategy, sustainability, equity and non-discrimination, accountability, partnership cooperation, empowerment, and inclusion. Through partnerships with representative organizations and online volunteer support, GMM aims to leverage global expertise to develop community-based, culturally appropriate programs that can be implemented by local staff and community facilitators on the ground.

Job Overview:
The position involves working in a data-poor environment in the North West Region of Cameroon, where education programs have been disrupted due to the Anglophone crisis. The role focuses on consolidating education and community program records, designing a standardized data schema, and creating a consolidated dataset to improve the quality of data available for decision-making. Volunteers will work with anonymized and aggregated material provided by GMM and publicly available data to build tools that local staff can operate independently. The assignment is fully home-based and desk-based, requiring volunteers to analyze data, define indicators, and develop digital learning resources that are accessible in low-bandwidth environments. The goal is to enhance GMM's ability to report results and apply for funding by establishing a reliable evidence base for its educational initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteers will undertake various tasks, including reviewing education and community program records, documenting their structure and quality issues, designing a standardized data schema, and creating a field-level data collection template. They will clean and merge historical records into a consolidated dataset while maintaining a log of transformations for reproducibility. Volunteers will also conduct a desk review of community education needs in similar rural and crisis-affected settings. Additionally, they will define an indicator framework aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4, analyze participation trends, and build a dashboard for program staff. Volunteers will review existing learning materials, recommend items for digital conversion, and develop accessible formats for low-end mobile devices. They will maintain a shared work plan, coordinate team check-ins, quality assure outputs, draft synthesis reports, and prepare handover packs with lessons learned and potential funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, experience in data management, and familiarity with educational program evaluation. They should be able to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting, demonstrating effective communication skills. Knowledge of digital learning design and experience with low-bandwidth environments are highly desirable. Volunteers should also have a commitment to GMM's mission and values, particularly in relation to community empowerment and sustainable development.

Educational Background:
A background in education, social sciences, data analysis, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant training or coursework that equips them with the necessary skills to perform data analysis and develop educational resources.

Experience:
Volunteers should have prior experience in data analysis, educational program evaluation, or community development. Experience working in crisis-affected areas or with underserved populations is an advantage. Familiarity with digital learning tools and methodologies is also beneficial.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Pidgin English is highly desirable. Understanding local dialects may also be beneficial for effective communication within the community.

Additional Notes:
The position is fully remote, allowing volunteers to work from home. There is no specified deadline for applications, and the role may involve a flexible commitment depending on the volunteer's availability. The assignment emphasizes the importance of maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards, particularly regarding sensitive information about community members.
