Job Overview:
In this role, you will lead the foundation's initiatives to develop and scale modern mathematics curricula for high school students, ensuring equitable access and adoption across the United States. Your responsibilities will include supporting the development of advanced math courses such as data science, statistics, and quantitative reasoning. You will collaborate with various partners and philanthropists to manage a multi-phase initiative aimed at modernizing the core high school math sequence, with a target of reaching over one million students annually by 203
  • This position requires you to drive execution across interdependent workstreams related to modernized expectations for Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, while also coordinating closely with other teams within the foundation on state engagement and managing a complex portfolio of partnerships, coalitions, and investments. Your expertise in high school math content and standards, along with your understanding of the grantmaking process and the political dynamics affecting systemic changes in mathematics education, will be crucial for success in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will include working collaboratively with potential and current grantees in grant making and management, leading the execution of initiatives to modernize high school math, and engaging with publishers and the field to establish clear milestones and track progress against measurable outcomes. You will manage investments in coordination with other foundation colleagues and standards partners to develop a prioritized set of high school math expectations, building consensus among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. Additionally, you will execute a tiered engagement strategy with external partners to advance state standards modernization efforts and facilitate high school mathematics curriculum reform at scale. You will design and lead a publisher engagement strategy, influencing business models and product roadmaps of major K-12 publishers. Your role will also involve developing a campaign approach to expand a co-funder coalition and cultivating relationships with philanthropic, public, and private partners. You will synthesize complex field intelligence into structured insights for initiative strategy and communicate progress and risks to diverse audiences, while collaborating across teams to support shared division goals and fostering an inclusive culture.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in K-12 education policy, standards development, or curriculum strategy, with significant expertise in the high school math landscape. Experience with grantmaking, either as a grantee or program officer, is essential, along with a proven track record of managing complex, multi-workstream initiatives with external partners. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing campaign strategies or field-building efforts in K-12 education reform, including coalition development and political risk management. Knowledge of the K-12 publisher ecosystem and experience influencing publishers toward evidence-based instructional approaches are also required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary to synthesize complex policy and market dynamics into clear insights for various audiences.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in education, public policy, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent demonstrated experience in relevant areas such as curriculum development, education reform, or educational leadership.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience in K-12 education policy, standards development, or curriculum strategy, particularly in the high school math landscape.
