Job Overview:
The position involves developing a comprehensive social media strategy for the Guyana Council of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities (GCOPD). The selected candidate will provide expert advice on increasing traffic to GCOPD's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The role requires addressing existing challenges, such as the inability to boost posts due to restrictions on GCOPD's page. The candidate will also be responsible for generating innovative ideas for engaging posts that not only attract a wider audience but also educate them about the issues faced by persons with disabilities. Additionally, the role includes training a new communications officer on effective social media management and suggesting relevant content for the organization's website, such as blogs and news updates.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Advise GCOPD on strategies to increase and maintain traffic on their social media platforms.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to boosting posts, including regaining privileges for content promotion.
  • Generate creative ideas for diverse types of posts that can engage and educate the audience.
  • Provide training to the new communications officer on managing social media effectively across different platforms.
  • Recommend content for the GCOPD website, including blogs, news articles, and tips that align with the organization's mission.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of social media dynamics, particularly for non-profit organizations. They should have experience in developing social media strategies that drive engagement and awareness. Knowledge of the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences is essential. Educational Background:
A degree in communications, marketing, social media management, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in digital marketing or social media strategy would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in social media management or digital marketing, preferably within the non-profit sector. Experience working with organizations focused on disability advocacy or similar fields will be highly regarded.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Guyana or the Caribbean region would be considered a plus.
