Job Overview:
The UNESCO Research and Knowledge Management Officer will be integral to the Education team in Myanmar, focusing on enhancing education sector coordination and knowledge management. The role involves supporting the planning and implementation of various educational initiatives, particularly those that require collaboration among multiple stakeholders, including education providers, development partners, and local organizations. The officer will be responsible for conducting thorough research, synthesizing data, and generating evidence to inform educational planning and responses. This position requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and the ability to manage and document educational activities effectively. The officer will also contribute to the preparation of technical materials and reports, ensuring that all activities align with UNESCO's mission and objectives in Myanmar.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and research skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective stakeholder engagement and documentation. The ideal candidate should demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. A strong understanding of the education sector, particularly in the context of Myanmar, is highly desirable, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and across various stakeholders.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be advantageous for candidates seeking to demonstrate advanced knowledge and expertise in education and knowledge management.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in education coordination, research, or knowledge management. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of education in developing countries, is highly valued. Familiarity with the education landscape in Myanmar and previous involvement in multi-stakeholder initiatives will be considered an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNESCO. Knowledge of local languages, such as Burmese, is considered a strong advantage and may enhance communication with local stakeholders and partners.

This position is a volunteer role under the United Nations framework, and it may involve a commitment to full-time work. The UNESCO Myanmar Project Office is located in a safe area of Yangon, with access to various amenities and housing options. The role may require occasional travel within Myanmar to engage with stakeholders and support educational initiatives. - Support the planning and implementation of education sector coordination, learning, and knowledge-sharing activities, including the development of workplans, timelines, action trackers, and related documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive desk reviews, synthesize, and analyze relevant education research, assessments, program evaluations, data, and other available evidence, including case studies and technical products.
- Liaise with education partners, researchers, technical experts, and resource persons to coordinate necessary inputs and contributions for various initiatives.
- Organize seminars and conferences by developing agendas, facilitating thematic discussions, and coordinating invitations and documentation.
- Maintain well-organized records and evidence repositories, ensuring confidentiality and data protection when handling stakeholder information and education data.
- Provide documentation support during consultations and technical meetings, including creating meeting summaries, learning briefs, technical notes, and reports.
- Undertake additional related tasks in education coordination, research, monitoring, evidence generation, and knowledge management as required under the Global Partnership for Education System Capacity Grant.
