Job Overview:
The Programme Management Officer position is situated within the Industry Innovation Branch of UNEP's Industry and Economy Division, primarily based in Geneva, Switzerland. The role involves implementing UNEP FI's strategy to integrate nature into financial institutions, thereby supporting the implementation of UN intergovernmental agreements. The incumbent will be responsible for resource mobilization for nature finance, overseeing the development and communication of the nature work programme, and ensuring the quality of outputs aligned with UNEP FI objectives. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the Nature Team, developing strategies for effective delivery, and fostering continuous learning and innovation within the team. The officer will also engage in data analysis to inform decision-making and contribute to the overall transformation of industry practices towards sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Management Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:

• Collaborating with UNEP FI Secretariat to implement strategies for mainstreaming nature in financial institutions.
• Supporting resource mobilization efforts for nature finance in coordination with UNEP and CBD programmes.
• Overseeing the nature work programme's development and implementation, ensuring alignment with UNEP FI processes.
• Managing the Nature Team, including HR planning and performance management.
• Coordinating with administrative and communications teams to ensure operational consistency with UN rules.
• Engaging in science-based policy and regulatory discussions to align finance with Multilateral Environmental Agreements.
• Collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.
• Leading capacity-building initiatives and awareness-raising efforts related to nature finance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in project or programme management, particularly in areas related to nature, environment, or sustainable development. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience is required, with a focus on connecting financial work with environmental and social considerations. Skills in developing work programs for diverse stakeholders are desirable, along with experience in data analytics or related fields. The ability to produce high-quality reports and communicate effectively with various audiences is essential.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field is required. Candidates with a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) may be considered if they have two additional years of relevant work experience. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is also desirable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, particularly in nature, environment, or sustainable development. Candidates should have experience in connecting financial work with environmental and social considerations, as well as a minimum of two years of experience in data analytics or related areas. This experience should demonstrate the ability to manage complex projects and engage with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered desirable, also at UN Level II proficiency. Candidates should be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both languages, tailoring their communication style to suit different audiences.

The appointment for this position is limited to the United Nations Environment Programme and is for an initial period of one year, subject to extension based on funding and mandate availability.
