Job Overview:
The Associate in the Development and Outreach Department at Human Rights Watch's Stockholm office plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's fundraising and outreach efforts. Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, business administration, international relations, events management, or a related field. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required, with experience in event coordination considered a strong asset. Candidates should demonstrate prior office or administrative experience, strong organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Self-motivation, the ability to prioritize tasks, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including donors, are required. A commitment to the wellbeing and inclusion of diverse staff is also necessary.
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as communications, business administration, international relations, or events management is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication, organizational management, and understanding of international relations and human rights issues.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant work experience, particularly in roles that involve event coordination or fundraising. - Support and coordinate the planning and implementation of all HRW activities and events in Sweden, including the annual Stockholm Voices for Justice event, and evaluate these events to identify best practices and lessons learned.
- Prepare various communication materials for internal and external use, including newsletters, invitations, social media content, and event-related mailings.
- Maintain and grow HRW's Swedish social media accounts, primarily on Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Provide development and fundraising support through prospect research, tracking gifts, and maintaining donor databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Offer administrative support, including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, drafting agendas, handling mail, responding to inquiries, translating and proofreading documents, and arranging travel.
- Act as a liaison, maintaining communication with other departments and project stakeholders, and responding to inquiries from the public and internal teams.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and coordinating interns and divisional staff as needed.
- Perform other tasks as required to support the team and its objectives.
