Job Overview:
The Investment Analyst Consultant will play a crucial role in the Africa Region Private Sector business plan by supporting the development, review, structuring, processing, and management of private sector climate investment operations throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires specialized knowledge that directly influences the systems, processes, and outcomes of the department's operations. The Consultant is expected to operate with a significant degree of independence and sound professional judgment. Responsibilities include working on selected project reviews and processes as directed, contributing to project teams for complex operations, and managing assigned portfolio operations. The Consultant will balance investment quality, climate impact, country ownership, implementation feasibility, fiduciary discipline, and the protection of GCF's reputation and financial standing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant will be responsible for several key areas: 1) Pipeline Development, Origination, and Screening: This includes participating in the development and management of a pipeline of private sector investment opportunities in Africa, identifying and assessing investment opportunities, leading reviews of concept notes and funding proposals, and maintaining accurate pipeline records. 2) Transaction Review, Due Diligence, and Structuring: The Consultant will participate in project review processes, undertake assessments of risks, analyze investment structures, and prepare or quality-review transaction materials. 3) Portfolio Management and Monitoring: This involves supporting the management of assigned portfolio projects, processing changes to projects, reviewing annual performance reports, and monitoring financial performance and emerging risks. 4) Policies, Processes, and Institutional Contribution: The Consultant will participate in meetings and contribute to the development of departmental tools and processes, supporting analysis of policy issues affecting private sector operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience in private sector investment analysis is essential, along with strong financial analysis and modeling skills. Familiarity with private sector instruments and an understanding of climate finance or infrastructure in emerging markets is advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, with proficiency in French and/or Portuguese being an advantage for Africa coverage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a related field is acceptable if accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in financial analysis and investment principles, which are critical for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for those with a Master's degree, or at least 5 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. This experience should be in private sector investment analysis, which may include roles in development finance institutions, commercial banks, investment funds, or advisory services. Strong financial analysis and modeling skills are essential, as well as the ability to interpret financial statements and assess investment risks and returns.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for the role. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is considered an advantage, particularly for candidates covering the African region, as it may facilitate better communication with stakeholders in those areas.
