Job Overview:
The Senior Project Associate – Protection will play a crucial role in the coordination, monitoring, and support of labor mobility activities within the framework of IOM's mission. This position involves overseeing the implementation of protection-sensitive relocation assistance, ensuring that processes are voluntary and based on assessed needs. The role requires a proactive approach to project management, including the analysis of implementation challenges and the adaptation of strategies to meet the evolving needs of beneficiaries. The Senior Project Associate will also engage with various stakeholders, including local authorities and NGOs, to facilitate effective project delivery and ensure compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. Frequent travel to field locations is expected to support program implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate the daily implementation of the project, ensuring adherence to work plans and objectives.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure timely progress and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Analyze challenges in implementation and recommend adjustments to work plans.
  • Coordinate the delivery of protection-sensitive relocation assistance, including case management and referrals.
  • Monitor budget expenditures and maintain records of project budgets.
  • Collaborate with the LMI Unit and other program units to enhance service delivery and access to employment opportunities.
  • Conduct capacity-building training sessions for stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective communication with local authorities, UN agencies, and other partners.
  • Prepare project reports and ensure timely submission of status updates. 1
  • Document and disseminate best practices and contribute to the development of SOPs and guidance materials. 1
  • Supervise and mentor reporting staff, ensuring quality performance and adherence to IOM standards. 1
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Law, Social Services, or related fields, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a high school diploma with seven years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities and NGOs, project implementation, and case management. Supervisory experience and familiarity with protection-sensitive programming are essential. Experience working with vulnerable groups, including migrants and refugees, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Law, or Social Services is required. Candidates with a high school diploma must have additional years of relevant experience to qualify for the position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or seven years for those with a high school diploma. Experience should include project implementation, case management, and working with vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees. Supervisory experience and familiarity with labor mobility and socio-economic integration programs are advantageous. Previous experience in Southeast Türkiye is considered a plus, as the role involves travel to various cities in the region.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Turkish is mandatory, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Arabic is advantageous, as it may enhance communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the region, may be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
The position may require frequent travel to various cities in Southeast Türkiye and other locations within the country. Candidates should be willing to travel as part of their duties. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment for 24 months.
