Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will work under the general guidance of the National Programme Officer and direct supervision of the National Media and Communications Officer. The intern will provide technical support to the Project Support Unit at the IOM Mission to the Republic of Korea. The role involves drafting, editing, and producing digital content, including social media posts, images, videos, newsletters, and other multimedia materials to effectively communicate IOM’s work and enhance online engagement. The intern will also support the management of IOM’s social media channels, assist in the production and dissemination of newsletters, and maintain the IOM ROK’s and programme websites. This position is crucial for enhancing IOM's visibility and outreach efforts, ensuring that the organization's messages are communicated effectively to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include:
  • Drafting, editing, and producing digital content for social media, newsletters, and multimedia materials.
  • Managing IOM’s social media channels by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and preparing analytics summaries.
  • Assisting in the production and dissemination of newsletters, including layout preparation and content compilation.
  • Maintaining and updating IOM ROK’s and programme websites to ensure accuracy and timely publication of information.
  • Drafting and distributing press releases and public information materials to support media outreach.
  • Supporting the production of branding and donor-visibility materials.
  • Organizing digital content archives and communication materials.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be Korean citizens aged between 20 and 34 years. They should be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level) or in a graduate school programme, or have graduated within the last year. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Content Production, Multimedia, Marketing, Business Administration, International Relations, International Development, International Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Communications, Media, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Content Production, Multimedia, Marketing, Business Administration, International Relations, International Development, International Studies, or a related field is required. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of communication and media production necessary for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience or working knowledge of using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, and YouTube. Experience in marketing communications, including advertising, graphic design, or video editing, is considered an advantage. Familiarity with standard office software packages like MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also required. Previous experience working in an international organization is desirable, as it provides context for the intern's role within IOM.

Languages:
Professional proficiency in both Korean and English (oral and written) is mandatory. The selection process will specifically evaluate language proficiency, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates can effectively communicate in both languages.

Additional Notes:
The internship is covered against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP) at no charge. However, IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses, and interns must secure their own medical insurance for such cases. Candidates must provide written proof of medical coverage before starting work. Any offer made is subject to funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment, as well as any residency or visa requirements.
