The coordinator will act as a technical expert in Early Childhood Development (ECD), providing guidance and support to strengthen child protection systems and improve outcomes for children and families. This role involves collaborating with government actors, civil society organizations, faith-based organizations, and communities to implement sustainable and locally-led approaches. The coordinator will utilize specialized technical knowledge to support project implementation, capacity building, and learning efforts, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of services and policies affecting early childhood development in El Salvador.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Coordinador(a) include acting as the technical expert for the project in Early Childhood Development, providing technical advice and leadership in coordination with global technical counterparts and specialized partners. Responsibilities include assisting in the strengthening of systems that serve children and families, supporting the development and implementation of relevant policies and standards, and enhancing the quality of implementation through training and mentorship. The coordinator will also support integrated project implementation across various technical areas, monitor the quality of technical work, and contribute to reporting and knowledge sharing. Specific tasks involve using the Nurturing Care Framework to design activities that promote health, nutrition, and responsive caregiving, as well as supporting the identification and referral of children with developmental delays or protection risks. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the specific area of expertise is required, along with prior experience managing multiple projects within the same department. Experience working with government, civil society, and community organizations is essential, as is the ability to apply technical knowledge and standards in program implementation. Candidates should also have experience in facilitation, mentoring, and capacity strengthening, as well as collaborating across multiple technical areas within integrated projects.

Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects, working with diverse stakeholders, and applying technical expertise in program implementation. Experience in multinational development programs and working with various partners, including government and civil society organizations, is highly valued. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in using data for program improvement and risk management.
Languages:
Proficiency in English at an intermediate level is desirable, as the role may involve collaboration with international partners and stakeholders. Knowledge of Spanish is essential, given the local context of the position in El Salvador. Familiarity with additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse communities.
Additional Notes:
This position is contingent upon the successful award of the project and may involve travel within the country, estimated at 25% of the time. The role is expected to be full-time, and candidates should be prepared to engage in a dynamic work environment that requires flexibility and adaptability.
