Job Overview:
The position of WHO Communications and Media Support Assistant for WAAW 2026 is designed to provide essential support for the World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) campaign, which aims to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promote actionable strategies to combat this global health threat. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of the communications and media package for the WAAW 2026 campaign, which will take place from November 18 to 2
  • This role involves collaborating closely with the WHO Mongolia AMR and Communications teams to ensure that all communications are timely, coordinated, and of high quality. The assistant will be responsible for developing a production plan, creating engaging multimedia content, and adapting communication products for various platforms. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think strategically about how to effectively convey key messages to diverse audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The WHO Communications and Media Support Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a comprehensive production plan and content calendar for the WAAW 2026 communications and media package, ensuring that all activities align with the approved campaign key messages and the overarching 'Stewards for the Future' campaign.
  • Assisting in the production of a Stewards for the Future interview video, which will involve planning interviews, preparing filming briefs, guiding video production suppliers, and overseeing the editing process to ensure high-quality output.
  • Collaborating on the creation of a high-level WAAW media feature that may include interviews or visual storytelling elements, ensuring that it meets the communication objectives of the campaign.
  • Designing and adapting visual materials for the campaign, including e-banners and promotional graphics, to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Adapting communication products for various media channels, ensuring that they are suitable for dissemination across WHO, Ministry of Health, and partner platforms.
  • Providing multimedia support for the launch and implementation of the WAAW 2026 campaign, which may involve coordinating with external media vendors and participating in community engagement activities.
  • Finalizing all communication products after thorough reviews and ensuring that all materials are ready for dissemination.
  • Performing additional duties related to communications and multimedia support as directed by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the campaign's success.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the WHO Communications and Media Support Assistant position should possess a strong background in communications, media production, or a related field. They should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex health messages in a clear and engaging manner. Additionally, candidates should have experience in multimedia production, including video editing and graphic design, and be proficient in using relevant software and tools. Educational Background:

Experience:

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the WHO and for the campaign materials. Proficiency in Mongolian is also essential, as the role involves engaging with local stakeholders and communities. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the target audience of the campaign.

Additional Notes:
This position is a volunteer role under the UN Community Volunteer program, and candidates are expected to be recruited locally in Mongolia. The assignment may require travel for specific events or community engagement activities, and any travel and daily meal expenses will be covered by the host entity.
