Job Overview:
The position of Second Training Facilitator is crucial in the context of Kazakhstan's ongoing efforts to improve maternal health and family planning services. The selected consultant will work under the guidance of the UNFPA Programme Analyst on Sexual and Reproductive Health and in collaboration with the Kazakhstan Association on Sexual and Reproductive Health (KMPA). The primary responsibility will be to co-develop and facilitate a comprehensive 4-day training program aimed at enhancing national and regional capacities in family planning service organization. This training will incorporate the latest global updates on modern contraceptive methods and will include specialized sessions on Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), clinical decision-making, and counseling techniques tailored for diverse patient groups. The training is designed to address the critical gap in specialized capacity-building for LARC methods in Kazakhstan, where there has been a rising demand for such services. The consultant will also be involved in the development of training materials and will lead practical exercises during the workshop, ensuring that healthcare providers gain the necessary hands-on skills and knowledge to effectively deliver family planning services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Second Training Facilitator will have several key responsibilities, including:

• Supporting the Lead Facilitator in reviewing and tailoring training modules, practical exercise scenarios, and clinical presentation materials to ensure they meet the needs of participants.
• Assisting in the finalization of training tools and participant handouts to enhance the learning experience.
• Co-facilitating the 4-day in-person workshop in Astana, ensuring that the training is interactive and engaging.
• Leading small-group practical exercises, interactive discussions, and clinical case analyses to foster a collaborative learning environment.
• Providing hands-on guidance to participants during LARC skill-building sessions, ensuring they develop the necessary competencies to perform these procedures effectively.
• Evaluating the training program's effectiveness and providing feedback for future improvements.
• Collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to align the training with national health priorities and standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Medicine (MD) specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with at least a Master’s degree (MSc, MPH) or higher (PhD/Doctorate). Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of clinical practice as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, demonstrating a strong foundation in the field. Proven practical experience in performing LARC procedures (IUDs, implants) and providing comprehensive contraceptive counseling is essential. Candidates should also have at least 5 years of experience in conducting interactive clinical trainings, medical seminars, or workshops for healthcare providers. Direct involvement in the development of national clinical protocols, educational curricula, clinical guidelines, or methodological manuals in Sexual and Reproductive Health/Family Planning is highly desirable. Familiarity with interactive adult learning techniques, clinical simulation exercises, and practical skill-building workshops is also required, along with a strong working knowledge of international family planning standards and national clinical algorithms.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in Medicine (MD) with a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Additionally, candidates should hold at least a Master’s degree (MSc, MPH) or a higher degree such as a PhD or Doctorate. This educational foundation is critical to ensure that the facilitator has the necessary medical knowledge and expertise to effectively train healthcare providers in family planning and LARC methods.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of 10 years of clinical practice as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. Candidates should have a proven track record of performing LARC procedures and providing comprehensive contraceptive counseling. Furthermore, at least 5 years of experience in conducting interactive clinical trainings, medical seminars, or workshops for healthcare providers is essential. Experience in developing national clinical protocols and educational curricula in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health/Family Planning is also highly valued, as is familiarity with adult learning techniques and clinical simulation exercises.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken Russian is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in Kazakhstan. Additionally, a working knowledge of Kazakh and/or English is considered a strong asset, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and enhance the training experience for participants.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is structured to last for a total of 5 working days, which includes 1 day of preparation and 4 days dedicated to seminar facilitation. The training will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, and the specific dates will be coordinated with the Ministry of Health. While the in-person seminar will be conducted in Astana, preparation and reporting tasks can be performed remotely or home-based.
