The position of Asesor Técnico I for Protección Infantil y Desarrollo Infantil Temprano is crucial for a project aimed at enhancing child protection systems and early childhood development in Guatemala and El Salvador. The Asesor Técnico I will provide strategic technical leadership, capacity strengthening, and quality assurance, while promoting evidence-informed programming. This role involves close collaboration with project directors and national teams to identify technical assistance needs and develop annual capacity strengthening plans. The position also requires ensuring high-quality standards in planning, implementation, and learning processes, while advocating for the best interests and rights of children throughout all programming and decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include providing strategic and technical leadership in child protection and early childhood development programs, ensuring alignment with national policies and international standards. The Asesor Técnico I will develop technical approaches, frameworks, and implementation strategies, guiding the development of pathways for child reunification and prevention of institutionalization. The role involves identifying emerging trends and evidence-based methodologies to enhance programming, as well as leading the development of quality standards that drive effective outcomes for children and families. Additionally, the Asesor Técnico I will act as a leader in capacity strengthening efforts, working with partners to address technical gaps and enhance workforce development in both Guatemala and El Salvador. The position requires providing high-quality technical assistance and capacity strengthening activities for staff, government institutions, and local organizations, ensuring that the project reflects local priorities and promotes systemic change. The Asesor Técnico I will also facilitate knowledge sharing and learning opportunities, ensuring the integration of best practices and innovations into programming.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, or public health, along with demonstrated experience in child protection, alternative care, family strengthening, or early childhood development programs. A minimum of 5 years of technical assistance experience in child protection, child welfare, family strengthening, early childhood development, social protection, public health, or related sectors is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience coordinating technical assistance in multi-country projects, with proven skills in adult education, training of trainers, and capacity development for local institutions and civil society organizations. Knowledge of child protection and education frameworks, as well as experience in managing protection risks within development or humanitarian programs, is essential.
Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Development, Education, Public Health, or related fields is preferred. This advanced education will enhance the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to the organization's mission and objectives.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in technical assistance roles, particularly in child protection and early childhood development. Candidates should have a strong background in coordinating multi-country projects and demonstrated expertise in capacity building and workforce development for local institutions and government systems.
Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English or other languages relevant to the region would be considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
The position is subject to donor approval and may involve travel up to 40% between Guatemala and El Salvador. The role does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires technical oversight to ensure alignment with overall strategy.
