Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer involves developing a functional prototype of the MARG Green Buildings Project Repository, which is a collaborative initiative between UNEP and IFC. This repository aims to provide a structured platform for organizing and presenting information on green-building projects. The volunteer will work with Google Workspace tools, including Google Sites and Google Apps Script, to create an interactive front end for the repository. The role requires designing the technical architecture, developing the user interface, and implementing functionalities such as project search and filtering. The volunteer will also explore the integration of AI capabilities through the Gemini API to enhance project discovery and interaction with the repository data. The ultimate goal is to create a maintainable and visually coherent repository that can be easily updated by the UNEP-IFC team without incurring significant ongoing costs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including: reviewing the agreed structure and functional requirements of the MARG repository; designing the technical architecture that connects Google Drive/Google Sheets with Google Sites; developing the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript interface for the repository; implementing Google Apps Script functionalities to manage project information; creating user-friendly search, filtering, and categorization features; ensuring the interface is visually coherent and easy to navigate; testing the repository for functionality and usability; incorporating feedback from the UNEP-IFC team; and documenting the technical architecture and instructions for future maintenance. The final deliverable will be a fully functional and tested prototype of the MARG Green Buildings Project Repository embedded in Google Sites.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess a strong understanding of web development technologies, particularly HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
