Job Overview:
The position of Driver is integral to the successful execution of the UNCTAD Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) project in Liberia. The primary responsibility of the driver will be to provide safe and timely transportation for the ASYCUDA team in Monrovia. This role is essential for ensuring that the team can fulfill their professional obligations effectively, as they will be engaged in various activities related to the implementation of the ASYCUDA system. The driver will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and accountability while adapting to the dynamic needs of the project. The ASYCUDA project itself is a comprehensive initiative aimed at modernizing customs operations and enhancing trade facilitation in Liberia, which underscores the importance of reliable transportation for the project team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:

• Provide daily transportation for ASYCUDA personnel to various locations within Monrovia as required for project activities.
• Ensure the vehicle is maintained in good working condition, including regular checks and servicing as needed.
• Adhere to all traffic regulations and safety protocols while driving.
• Assist in loading and unloading of project materials and equipment as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, including mileage and fuel consumption.
• Report any vehicle issues or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Support the ASYCUDA team in logistical arrangements related to transportation needs.
• Exhibit professionalism and courtesy while interacting with team members and external stakeholders.
• Be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and transportation requirements. 1
• Participate in training and capacity-building activities as required by the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. They should demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and accountability in their driving duties. Previous experience in a similar role, particularly within an international organization or in a development context, is highly desirable. Candidates should also exhibit good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations is essential, as is the ability to navigate effectively within Monrovia and surrounding areas.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional training or certification in defensive driving or vehicle maintenance is an advantage. Candidates with further education in logistics or transportation management may be preferred, although practical experience is highly valued.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a context related to international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies. Experience working in a multicultural environment and familiarity with the local area of Monrovia will be beneficial. The ability to demonstrate a history of reliability and punctuality in previous roles is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the UNCTAD project. Knowledge of local languages or dialects spoken in Liberia would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and enhance the driver's effectiveness in the role.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is temporary, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational needs, and satisfactory performance. There is no expectation of renewal beyond the initial contract period. The position is full-time, and the driver will receive a Volunteer Living Allowance to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. Additionally, life, health, and permanent disability insurance will be provided, covering up to three dependents. Final repatriation and resettlement allowances will also be available for satisfactory service.
