Job Overview:
The Catalytic Finance Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the SHF's Capital M initiative, which aims to advance country pipeline opportunities for catalytic financing in the menstrual health market. This position involves identifying and analyzing high-impact enterprises and strategic partners to unlock additional investment. The specialist will assist the SHF technical team in scoping potential pipeline opportunities and partners for catalytic financing in India, utilizing relevant experience in private sector finance, impact investing, and development finance. The role includes mapping key private sector players, potential partners, and investors, as well as engaging with enterprises to explore opportunities and assess financing needs. The ultimate goal is to support the identification, assessment, and advancement of catalytic financing opportunities for market-based menstrual health solutions, thereby contributing to the overall mission of improving menstrual health access and financing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Catalytic Finance Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: conducting market and pipeline assessments to identify and evaluate enterprises, financial institutions, and strategic partners that can support catalytic financing for menstrual health solutions; assessing enterprises across the menstrual health value chain, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and e-commerce platforms; mapping local financial institutions and intermediaries that provide or could provide financing for menstrual health enterprises; developing criteria to screen and prioritize pipeline opportunities based on impact, feasibility, scalability, and alignment with SHF objectives; contributing to stakeholder engagement strategies and maintaining relationships with potential partners; preparing technical briefs, presentations, and assessment profiles; and representing SHF at relevant meetings and conferences. Key deliverables will include a baseline synthesis report, a financing ecosystem map, a prioritized pipeline database, and strategic recommendations for catalytic financing.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in development finance, corporate finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline combined with an additional two years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A minimum of five years of work experience in impact investing, venture capital, development finance, corporate finance, or related areas in India is required. Experience in program financing related to development finance or impact investing is also necessary. Desired qualifications include experience in financing or investment for women's health, menstrual health, or related markets, as well as experience in mapping and engaging local financial institutions and drafting technical briefs or investment profiles.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as development finance, corporate finance, economics, business administration, or a related discipline. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be considered if they have an additional two years of relevant work experience, making it a total of seven years of experience in the relevant sectors.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in areas such as impact investing, venture capital, development finance, corporate finance, or fundraising for private sector entities, specifically within the context of India. Candidates should have a proven track record in program financing related to development finance or impact investing. Experience in financing or investment for women's health, menstrual health, or related markets is desirable, as is familiarity with mapping and engaging local financial institutions and drafting technical briefs or investment profiles.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Hindi is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as mid-level and is home-based. The contract type is ICA - LICA - Specialist - Retainer, with a duration of one year and the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance, availability of funds, and necessity of services.
