Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the IT Systems Analyst position should possess a strong background in information technology, particularly in systems analysis and development. They should have experience with customs management systems or similar IT projects. Familiarity with programming languages and software development methodologies is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and a commitment to supporting the objectives of UNCTAD and the Liberian Customs.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required for the IT Systems Analyst position. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas may be advantageous and demonstrate a higher level of expertise in systems analysis and development.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in IT systems analysis, development, or support, preferably within the context of customs management or trade facilitation. Experience working with international organizations or in developing countries is highly desirable, as it provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced in these environments.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of UNCTAD and the primary language used in Liberia. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French or Portuguese, would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with diverse stakeholders and enhance collaboration in the region.
Additional Notes:
The contract for the IT Systems Analyst position is for a specified period, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal beyond the initial contract term. The position may require travel to the duty station, and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided if the duty station is not within commuting distance from the recruitment location. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance will be provided to cover housing, utilities, and normal living expenses. The position also includes life, health, and permanent disability insurance, covering health insurance for up to three dependents, as well as final repatriation and resettlement allowances for satisfactory service.
