The IT Systems Analyst position at UNCTAD involves developing and programming specific modules and features for the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) in Liberia. Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the IT Systems Analyst include:
  • Developing and programming specific modules and features for the ASYCUDA system tailored to the needs of the Liberian Customs.
  • Providing ongoing IT support to the Liberian Customs IT team, addressing any technical issues that arise with the ASYCUDA system.
  • Writing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for the ASYCUDA system to ensure clarity and usability for current and future users.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback for system enhancements.
  • Conducting training sessions for the Liberian Customs staff on the use of the ASYCUDA system and its features.
  • Monitoring the performance of the ASYCUDA system and suggesting improvements based on user feedback and operational needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices in customs data management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the IT Systems Analyst position should possess a strong background in information technology, particularly in systems analysis and development. They should have experience with customs management systems or similar IT projects. Familiarity with programming languages and software development methodologies is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and a commitment to supporting the objectives of UNCTAD and the Liberian Customs.

Educational Background:

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of UNCTAD and the primary language used in Liberia. Additional Notes:
The contract for the IT Systems Analyst position is for a specified period, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal beyond the initial contract term. The position may require travel to the duty station, and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided if the duty station is not within commuting distance from the recruitment location. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance will be provided to cover housing, utilities, and normal living expenses. The position also includes life, health, and permanent disability insurance, covering health insurance for up to three dependents, as well as final repatriation and resettlement allowances for satisfactory service.
