The IT Systems Developer position at UNCTAD involves the development and programming of specific modules and features for the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) in Liberia. This role requires the individual to provide IT support to the Liberian Customs IT team, ensuring that the ASYCUDA system operates effectively and meets the needs of the customs operations. The developer will also be responsible for writing technical documentation related to the ASYCUDA implementation in Liberia. Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in software development, particularly in roles that involve developing and implementing IT systems for governmental or intergovernmental organizations. Experience working with customs or trade-related IT systems is highly beneficial and will be considered a strong asset.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of UNCTAD and the primary language used in documentation and communication. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French or Portuguese, would be considered a valuable asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with a broader range of stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
The contract for the IT Systems Developer position is for a specified period, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal beyond the initial contract term. The position may require travel to the duty station, and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided if the duty station is not within commuting distance from the recruitment location. The Volunteer Living Allowance will be provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and normal living expenses. Additionally, life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included, covering health insurance for up to three dependents. Final repatriation and resettlement allowances will also be provided for satisfactory service.
