Job Overview:
The Supply Chain Associate position at CHAI Malawi is critical for enhancing the capacity of the Ministry of Health to deliver improved reproductive health services. The role involves working closely with the government to implement a Country Investment Plan aimed at strengthening maternal and newborn health services. The associate will provide technical support in various aspects of supply chain management, including forecasting, procurement, and inventory management of reproductive health commodities. This position is not only challenging but also rewarding, as it directly impacts the health outcomes of the population in Malawi. The associate will be seconded to the Ministry of Health's Reproductive Health Directorate and will report to both the Director of the Directorate and the Program Manager at CHAI.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply Chain Associate will serve as a trusted technical advisor to the Ministry of Health on supply chain strengthening issues. Responsibilities include providing technical support for quantification, prioritization, forecasting, procurement, inventory management, and distribution planning of reproductive health commodities. The associate will monitor stock levels, consumption trends, and pipeline data, ensuring continuous product availability at service delivery points. They will also support the Ministry in routine supply chain monitoring and decision-making based on data analysis. Additional duties include coordinating training for pharmacy personnel, developing supply chain dashboards, and collaborating with various stakeholders to mobilize resources for national plans.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Logistics, Public Health, Nursing, or Social Sciences, with a preference for those with experience in supply chain management. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a demanding environment is required, including at least 4 years in supply chain management within the public sector. Proficiency in health commodity quantification, Logistics Management Information Systems (LMIS), and data analysis is essential. Strong communication skills in English, exceptional Microsoft Excel skills, and the ability to operate independently and multitask are also required.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is mandatory, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree in Public Health, Global Health, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in health systems and supply chain management principles.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a result-oriented environment, with at least 4 years specifically in supply chain management. Candidates should have proven experience in health commodity quantification and familiarity with supply chain management tools and software.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Additional language skills may be advantageous but are not specified as requirements.
