Job Overview: The Associate, Development and Outreach position at Human Rights Watch in Sydney is a full-time role within the Development and Outreach Department. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate, Development and Outreach include providing comprehensive administrative support to the Australia Development team. This involves assisting in the production of major fundraising and outreach initiatives, supporting special events such as annual fundraising dinners and donor meetings, and creating communication materials. The Associate will track and update donor gift information, manage invoicing and receipting, and ensure timely donor acknowledgment. Additionally, the role includes managing the Australia Income in HRW's donor database (Salesforce), coordinating communication with global Finance and Operations divisions, and organizing logistical aspects of fundraising activities. The Associate will also assist in prospect and donor relationship management, maintain the Salesforce donor database, prepare and distribute communications, support institutional funders, track budgets and expenses, and assist in the recruitment and supervision of interns. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is necessary, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should demonstrate experience in data and financial management, possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and have proven interpersonal skills to engage with diverse audiences. Familiarity with the fundraising landscape in Australia is preferred, along with proficiency in MS Office applications, CRM databases (preferably Salesforce), and graphic design tools. Knowledge of HTML editing is a plus. Applicants must also have current valid work authorization in Australia, as HRW cannot sponsor work permits for this role.
