Job Overview:
The Supporter Acquisition Specialist plays a crucial role in VSO’s international donor acquisition program. This position is designed for an experienced fundraising or direct marketing professional who is passionate about connecting new audiences with causes that can create lasting change. The specialist will be responsible for acquiring, converting, and onboarding new donors across various markets, while also developing strategies aimed at long-term retention and income growth. The role requires a deep understanding of different channels and markets, as well as the ability to use data and insights to enhance performance. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing projects, collaborating with agencies, and building strong relationships with colleagues and partners. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies for donor acquisition across multiple channels, ensuring alignment with VSO’s overall fundraising goals.
  • Analyze data and insights to identify trends and opportunities for improving donor engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create compelling campaigns that resonate with potential supporters.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and partners to enhance donor acquisition efforts.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of donor acquisition strategies, making adjustments as necessary to optimize performance.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes for new donors, ensuring a positive experience that encourages long-term support.
  • Work closely with the fundraising team to align acquisition efforts with broader income growth strategies.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development to stay updated on best practices in fundraising and donor engagement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in fundraising or direct marketing, with a strong track record of acquiring and retaining donors.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in using data to drive decision-making and improve performance.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with a focus on achieving results.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and techniques is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field is preferred. Additional qualifications in fundraising or nonprofit management would be an advantage.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, direct marketing, or a related field. Experience working in an international development context or with nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to VSO’s operational regions would be considered an asset.
