Job Overview:
The UNFPA Social Norms Programme Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of UNFPA's Caribbean Sub-Regional Programme, which aims to address discriminatory social and gender norms that hinder progress towards gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including governments, civil society, and youth organizations, to promote equitable gender relations and combat gender-based violence (GBV). The associate will contribute to evidence generation, stakeholder mapping, and knowledge management, ensuring that initiatives are informed by data and best practices. This role is integral to advancing social norms transformation across Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and will involve engaging with youth-led initiatives and fostering meaningful participation in gender equality efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the UNFPA Social Norms Programme Associate include supporting the planning and implementation of programme activities aimed at transforming harmful social norms, preparing technical inputs and documentation for gender equality initiatives, conducting literature reviews and evidence synthesis, identifying promising practices from social norms programmes, and integrating behavioral change approaches into programme planning. The associate will also engage with strategic partners, maintain stakeholder maps, assist in organizing consultations and events, support youth leadership initiatives, develop knowledge products, monitor programme activities, and contribute to cross-team collaboration within the Caribbean Sub-Regional Office. Additionally, the associate will stay informed of emerging evidence and contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the UNFPA Social Norms Programme Associate position should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. A solid understanding of gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, and social norms transformation is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge management, as well as proficiency in data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with advocacy and policy dialogue related to gender issues is also highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, public health, gender studies, international development, or a related field is required for this position. Advanced degrees or specialized training in gender equality, human rights, or sexual and reproductive health will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, or advocacy related to gender equality and sexual and reproductive health. Experience working with youth organizations or in the Caribbean context is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing projects and collaborating with diverse partners.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Dutch or other Caribbean languages would be considered an asset, as it would enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a United Nations Volunteer (UNV) assignment with a contract duration that may be extended based on funding availability and performance. The position is full-time, and the Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) will be provided monthly to cover living expenses. Health insurance for the volunteer and up to three dependents is included, along with life and disability insurance. The role may involve travel to the duty station if it is not within commuting distance from the recruitment location.
