Job Overview:
The WFP Programme Assistant G5 position is crucial for providing programmatic support for all WFP interventions in the field, including Home Grown School Feeding, Crisis Response, Health Supply Chain, and Resilience initiatives. The role involves strengthening data quality, corporate reporting inputs, planning, implementation, and knowledge management within the Field Office. The Programme Assistant will work closely with activity managers and program teams to ensure that key program interventions are properly planned and executed in a timely manner. This position is based in the WFP Liberia Field Office in Saclepea and reports directly to the Head of Field Office. The successful candidate will perform specialized and standardized policy and program-related processes and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance packages, contributing to program plans and reports, performing basic analyses, and ensuring smooth implementation of programs and projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key accountabilities for this position include performing WFP Liberia program implementation within the area covered by the Saclepea Field Office, ensuring alignment with wider program policies and guidelines. The Programme Assistant will provide project management and general office support, compile data, support analysis, and prepare reports to aid operational decision-making. Responsibilities also include accurate and timely recording of data, collaboration with internal counterparts to support effective implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities, and acting as a point of contact for resolving general operational queries. The role requires following standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can quickly respond and deploy resources to affected areas. Additional duties involve supporting communication and activities with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions, ensuring timely access to program data and relevant documents, and performing other program support and data management duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have experience supporting program implementation, administration, community engagement, reporting, planning, or data management functions. Proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases, SharePoint, or other online document repositories to maintain trackers, files, dashboards, and knowledge products is essential. Experience with corporate systems or business processes related to program, procurement, finance, planning, or reporting is desirable. Candidates should also have experience compiling and reconciling beneficiary, operational, expenditure, or planning data from multiple sources, as well as preparing monthly reports, management briefs, dashboards, and meeting records. Familiarity with knowledge capture, filing systems, document control, and team onboarding materials is an asset.
Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is desirable, indicating a foundational understanding of the necessary skills and knowledge for the role.
Experience:
Candidates should possess at least 5 years of related job experience, demonstrating a solid background in program support and administration, which is critical for the effective execution of the responsibilities associated with this position.
Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this role. Knowledge of local Liberian languages would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
