Job Overview:
The Knowledge Management Officer position is a critical role within UNICEF, specifically aimed at enhancing child nutrition and development in Punjab, Pakistan. The officer will be responsible for strengthening knowledge and information management for emergency and development programs, particularly focusing on nutrition interventions for women and children. This role involves documenting results, generating evidence, and facilitating learning to improve the effectiveness and reach of life-saving nutrition programs. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including government counterparts and partners, to ensure that knowledge management practices are effectively implemented and that information is shared in a timely manner. The position requires a proactive approach to managing knowledge and information, ensuring that all relevant data is collected, analyzed, and disseminated to support decision-making and program improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Knowledge Management Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
  • Strengthening knowledge management for nutrition programs by keeping the nutrition team and partners informed on emerging evidence, guidelines, and program learning.
  • Supporting the preparation of program reports, briefs, presentations, and other knowledge products as required.
  • Documenting lessons learned and good practices from emergency nutrition interventions in Punjab.
  • Providing knowledge management and reporting support for emergency nutrition response activities, including maintaining organized records of activities and partner updates.
  • Compiling and reviewing program data to support reporting and evidence generation.
  • Supporting the integration and expansion of digital information systems related to nutrition.
  • Coordinating reporting and documentation for DHR-funded activities and ensuring timely information sharing with partners.
  • Contributing to cross-learning between various nutrition initiatives and maintaining organized electronic documentation systems.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Additionally, PRINCE2 and ITIL certifications are desired qualifications that would enhance a candidate's profile for this role. The candidate should possess strong analytical skills, experience in managing health and nutrition information systems, and familiarity with local contexts and the District Health Information System (DHIS).

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the same fields is acceptable if accompanied by a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in data management, analysis, and information technology, which are crucial for the role.

Experience:
The Knowledge Management Officer should have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience managing health and/or nutrition information systems if they hold a Master's degree, or 4 years of experience if they have a Bachelor's degree. Experience within the United Nations system or a comparable international organization is preferred, as is knowledge of local contexts and the District Health Information System (DHIS). Candidates should also have experience in planning and monitoring in humanitarian or development contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF and with international partners. Proficiency in Urdu is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the officer's ability to engage with the community effectively.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as an Associate level role (ICS 08) and is offered on a contract basis (ICA - LICA - Specialist - Regular) for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. The role is full-time and based in Lahore, Pakistan.
