Job Overview:
The Risk and Compliance Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing risk management and compliance oversight within DRC Yemen. This position is responsible for supporting the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, Senior Management Team (SMT), Area Managers, and Heads of Department in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating various operational, compliance, and institutional risks. The coordinator ensures that DRC policies, donor requirements, local laws, and global compliance standards are effectively communicated and implemented throughout the organization's operations in Yemen. Key functions include supporting the development of risk registers, compliance improvement plans, conducting internal reviews, and facilitating audit follow-ups. The role also involves leading capacity-building initiatives on risk management and compliance, promoting a culture of accountability and transparency, and providing practical recommendations to management based on identified risks and findings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Risk and Compliance Coordinator is tasked with several key responsibilities, including:

• Risk Mapping and Management: Supporting the implementation of DRC’s Risk Management Framework, building staff capacity through training, coordinating updates to the country risk matrix, and tracking key mitigation actions.
• Compliance: Reviewing and updating compliance and accountability improvement plans, evaluating compliance risks, providing feedback after internal reviews, and ensuring DRC policies are communicated and implemented effectively.
• Internal and External Audits: Leading the coordination of audits and compliance reviews, maintaining centralized audit documentation, tracking audit findings, and facilitating timely follow-ups with responsible departments.
• Code of Conduct Capacity: Monitoring compliance with DRC's standards, analyzing trends from reporting mechanisms, overseeing the implementation of reporting procedures, and conducting investigations into allegations of misconduct.
• Continuous Improvement: Supporting departments in implementing corrective actions and strengthening compliance with DRC policies and donor requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a relevant university degree or equivalent professional qualification. A minimum of 6 years of experience in Audit, Risk Management, or Compliance within the humanitarian or development sector is required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills are essential, along with a demonstrated understanding of local laws and socio-cultural contexts. Proficiency in using tools and systems for risk management and compliance is necessary, as well as excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others to achieve results is also crucial.

Educational Background:
The position requires a relevant university degree or an equivalent professional qualification. Experience as an auditor is considered beneficial for candidates applying for this role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of relevant experience in Audit, Risk Management, or Compliance, particularly within the humanitarian or development sectors. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of risk management principles and compliance requirements, as well as the ability to effectively engage with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Advanced proficiency in English is mandatory, while fluency in the local language is also required. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the local context.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position extends through December 2027, with the possibility of further extension depending on fund availability. The position is classified within the non-management (G1) band and reports directly to the Country Director. The start date for this role is as soon as possible, and the duty station is in Sana'a. Salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
