Job Overview:
The Field Driver plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of UNFPA's Country Programme by providing essential logistical and administrative support in Legazpi City. This position is responsible for ensuring reliable and safe driving services for the transport of UNFPA staff, officials, and visitors. The Field Driver will also handle the delivery and collection of mail and documentation, as well as meet official personnel and visitors at designated locations. In addition to driving duties, the Field Driver will manage all aspects of vehicle maintenance, including minor repairs and cleaning, to ensure that the vehicle is always in good running condition. This role is vital for the smooth operation of UNFPA's activities in the region, contributing to the organization's mission of promoting reproductive health and gender equality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Driver will carry out a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: driving UNFPA officials and staff to various locations, ensuring the provision of reliable and safe driving services, and managing the transport of mail, documents, and other items. The driver will also be responsible for meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, including handling visa and customs formalities when required. To ensure cost savings, the Field Driver will maintain accurate daily vehicle logs and provide inputs for vehicle maintenance plans and history reports. Daily vehicle maintenance tasks will include timely minor repairs, arranging for major repairs, changing oil, checking tires, brakes, and water levels, and keeping the vehicle clean. The driver will ensure that all required documents and supplies are available in the vehicle, including insurance, registration, logs, and a first aid kit. In case of an accident, the Field Driver will follow the necessary steps as per rules and regulations. Additionally, the driver may be required to translate in the local language for office personnel when using the vehicle.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads, and defensive driving skills is essential. Skills in minor vehicle repairs are advantageous, and experience with mechanics is a plus. Candidates should exemplify integrity, demonstrate commitment to UNFPA and the UN system, embrace cultural diversity, and be adaptable to change. Educational Background:
