Job Overview: As an Agile Coach at CERN, you will be an integral part of the Delivery section within the Business Computing group. Your primary mission will be to coach, mentor, and train teams and business partners on lean-agile practices in software development. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will be involved in two significant business transformation projects, one focusing on Finance, Procurement, and Logistics processes with a new ERP system, and the other on implementing a new Human Capital Management system. Your role will require strong coordination and cross-functional collaboration across the group, ensuring that agile methodologies are effectively integrated into these projects. You will also drive BC Group events and work with internal and external stakeholders to enhance their understanding and acceptance of agile practices, ultimately leading to improved business agility and lean portfolio management within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your main responsibilities will include coordinating business transformation projects, training individuals and teams in agile techniques and frameworks, designing strategies to improve collaboration and information flow between software development teams and business stakeholders, coaching and facilitating agile workshops for product teams and business representatives, and working with the Lean/Agile Chapter to enhance knowledge of Lean/Agile practices. You will promote an agile mindset and create an environment conducive to high-performing team dynamics, accountability, and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will have team supervision responsibilities, ensuring that agile principles are adhered to and that teams are supported in their agile journey.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have experience working with Scrum teams in a scaled Agile context, familiarity with Product Management frameworks, and experience with business transformation projects such as ERP or HCM implementations. Soft skills required include excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills. Technical skills should encompass knowledge of scaled Agile frameworks and their practical application, as well as an understanding of business transformation projects. Agile certifications such as Scrum Master or Leading SAFe are highly desirable, along with design thinking skills.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should possess a professional background in Computer Science, Organisational Psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience is required, or alternatively, a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. It is important that candidates have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
Experience: Candidates should have a solid level of experience, particularly in working with Scrum teams and in scaled Agile environments. Experience with business transformation projects is essential, as is a proven track record in coaching and mentoring teams in agile methodologies.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate a commitment to learning French, which is considered a valuable asset for the role.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is 24 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The job offers flexibility in terms of hybrid work arrangements. The target start date for the position is January 1, 202
The job reference is FAP-BC-DL-2026-142-GRAP. The position offers a competitive monthly net stipend ranging from 6372 to 7004 Swiss Francs, depending on the candidate's degree.
