They should be enthusiastic about public health and immunization, with a willingness to learn and share information. Volunteers must be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative in creating content that resonates with their audiences. Familiarity with health communication and the ability to engage in respectful discussions on social media are essential. Additionally, volunteers should be comfortable using various social media platforms and tools to track engagement.
Educational Background:
While there are no specific educational requirements for this volunteer position, a background in public health, communications, social sciences, or related fields would be advantageous. Volunteers should have a basic understanding of immunization and public health principles, as well as the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner to diverse audiences.
Experience:
Previous experience in social media management, community engagement, or public health advocacy is preferred but not mandatory. Volunteers should demonstrate a passion for health communication and a commitment to promoting accurate health information. Experience in volunteer roles or community service can also be beneficial, as it reflects a dedication to contributing to public health initiatives.
Languages:

- This initiative aims to raise awareness about the significance of immunization and to foster informed discussions within communities and online networks. Volunteers will be responsible for sharing evidence-based immunization messages through their personal social media platforms, engaging their audiences with original content inspired by WHO's key messages. The campaign will emphasize WHO's immunization priorities through 2030, including the elimination of measles and rubella, reducing the number of unvaccinated children, and promoting equitable access to vaccines. Volunteers will also participate in virtual orientation and learning sessions to enhance their understanding of immunization and health communication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be tasked with several key responsibilities:
- Share 1-2 posts per week on their social media platforms, utilizing various formats such as images, videos, and text to convey WHO's immunization messages.
- Participate in a mandatory virtual orientation session in early September to familiarize themselves with WHO's immunization priorities and campaign objectives.
- Attend two virtual learning sessions throughout the campaign, focusing on topics like immunization, vaccine confidence, and health communication.
- Encourage constructive discussions on social media regarding immunization, ensuring that accurate health information is promoted.
- Track and document engagement activities using monitoring forms provided by WHO and UNV, including links to public posts and audience reach.
- Optionally, take on the role of Group Coordinator, which involves additional responsibilities such as supporting group members, troubleshooting questions, and compiling reports on engagement metrics.
