The vision of YPWC is to provide a ‘youthful voice’ that represents the youth of our world, effectively using young resourceful minds to influence global policy formulation and development. YPWC has been serving young people for over 15 years, addressing challenges in areas such as education, employment, and health, and aims to engage youth through social media.

Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for Social Media Content Creation at YPWC involves engaging young people through the development of social media content aimed at promoting the organization's visibility and profile. Volunteers will be responsible for creating engaging posts for various social media platforms, including Meta (Facebook, Instagram), LinkedIn, Bluesky, and X. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about youth development and are willing to contribute to youth-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Goal 2 (hunger), Goal 4 (education), Goal 5 (gender equality), and Goal 8 (decent work). Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn from outgoing volunteers and gain insights into effective practices in youth engagement through social media.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:
  • Developing and creating social media posts for various platforms, ensuring that content is engaging and relevant to the target audience.
  • Making at least eight social media posts on each platform per day to maintain a consistent online presence.
  • Collaborating with other volunteers and staff to align content with YPWC's mission and objectives.
  • Monitoring social media engagement and responding to comments or messages as necessary.
  • Participating in training sessions and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge related to social media content creation.
  • Reporting on the effectiveness of social media campaigns and suggesting improvements based on analytics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their functionalities.
  • Experience in content creation, particularly for social media.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging and persuasive content.
  • Familiarity with youth development issues and a passion for promoting youth engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, marketing, social media management, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with relevant experience and a strong portfolio of social media content will also be considered.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in social media content creation or digital marketing. Experience working with youth organizations or in volunteer roles is an advantage, as it demonstrates a commitment to youth development and engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all content will be created in English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus, as it may help in reaching a broader audience.

This is a volunteer position with a commitment to start in the first week of September for a duration of twelve weeks. The role is designed for individuals who are ready to engage with youth and contribute to meaningful social media initiatives.
