Job Overview:
The Financial Risk Management Officer – Market Risk & Pricing Control position at the EIB is a pivotal role within the Group Risk and Compliance Directorate. This position is designed for individuals who are keen on enhancing the Bank's oversight of loan pricing and market risk. The officer will contribute to the development and maintenance of robust risk policies and frameworks that align with the Bank's Asset and Liability Management (ALM) framework, best banking practices, and regulatory expectations. The role involves supporting the timely identification, assessment, and monitoring of financial risk exposures, ensuring that pricing and market risk activities are sound, consistent, and well-controlled. The officer will work closely with various departments, including Finance and Lending Operations, and will engage with both internal and external auditors, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Financial Risk Management Officer include contributing to the implementation of the second line of defense (2nd LoD) oversight framework for loan pricing and market risk. This involves preparing risk assessments related to the Bank's Interest Rate Strategy, supporting the validation of financial risk metrics for EIB and EIF portfolios, and contributing to ongoing initiatives within the division. The officer will also be responsible for testing new product representations within financial risk systems, reviewing and updating ALM and Financial Risk policies, and ensuring compliance with approved procedures and internal policies. Additionally, the officer will participate in mandate-related risk assessments by supporting analysis, preparing documentation, and assisting in the monitoring of underlying financial risks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, equivalent to at least a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or another quantitative subject. Post-graduate studies in these areas would be advantageous. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in Finance is required, ideally in ALM, Risk Management, Capital Markets, or Treasury functions. Proven expertise in quantitative and financial modeling, including loan pricing, BPV, and duration calculation, is essential. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of ALM and market risk management techniques, as well as demonstrated experience in implementing models and methodologies that support the monitoring and management of market risks in banking books. Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, along with programming knowledge in languages such as C# or Python, which would be an advantage. Familiarity with IT systems like WSS (FK), Business Objects, and CompatibL is also a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or another quantitative subject. A post-graduate qualification in these areas would be beneficial and enhance a candidate's profile. The emphasis is on candidates who have a strong analytical foundation and the ability to apply quantitative methods to financial risk management.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the finance sector, with a focus on areas such as Asset and Liability Management (ALM), Risk Management, Capital Markets, or Treasury functions. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in environments where financial risk assessment and management are critical, demonstrating their ability to handle complex financial models and risk metrics effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and a good command of French is also required, as both languages are official working languages of the EIB. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to operate in a multicultural environment. Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
