Job Overview:
The SRH Clinical Supervisor position is a critical role within Relief International's Programs team, specifically aimed at delivering lifesaving health services in North Darfur. This position involves providing clinical leadership and mentorship in maternal and newborn healthcare services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and respectful care. The supervisor will work closely with local health authorities and facility teams to maintain 24/7 Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) readiness, enhance staff capacity, and improve clinical quality in a challenging humanitarian environment. The role requires direct involvement in clinical care across various services, including antenatal care, labor and delivery, postnatal care, and newborn services, while managing obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation. The supervisor will also be responsible for monitoring compliance with clinical protocols and implementing corrective actions as necessary, thereby playing a vital role in the overall health service delivery in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SRH Clinical Supervisor will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Providing technical leadership and daily supervision of maternity and midwifery services to ensure compliance with BEmONC service delivery standards.
• Delivering direct clinical care across antenatal, labor and delivery, postnatal, and newborn services, including managing obstetric emergencies and performing neonatal resuscitation.
• Mentoring and coaching midwives and maternity staff through bedside supervision, training sessions, case reviews, and supportive learning approaches.
• Monitoring the quality of care provided, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, documentation practices, and patient safety measures, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Coordinating referrals for complicated maternal, newborn, and pediatric cases, collaborating closely with partners and referral facilities to ensure continuity of care.
• Engaging in ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices in maternal and newborn health care.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution, along with valid professional registration or licensure to practice as a midwife. Additionally, substantial proven experience in providing midwifery services across antenatal care, labor and delivery, postnatal care, and newborn health services is essential. Strong technical expertise in Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC), obstetric emergency management, and neonatal resuscitation is required. Experience in providing clinical supervision, mentorship, coaching, and capacity strengthening for midwives and maternity teams is also necessary. A solid understanding of infection prevention and control, clinical quality assurance, and maternity data management is crucial, as is experience working in humanitarian, emergency, conflict-affected, or resource-constrained settings.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution. Candidates must also hold valid professional registration or licensure to practice as a midwife, ensuring that they meet the necessary legal and professional standards to provide midwifery services.

Experience:
The position requires substantial proven experience in providing midwifery services, particularly in antenatal care, labor and delivery, postnatal care, and newborn health services. Candidates should have a strong background in Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) and experience in managing obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation. Additionally, experience in clinical supervision, mentorship, and capacity building for midwives and maternity teams is essential, along with a history of working in humanitarian or resource-constrained settings.

Languages:
Professional English language skills are mandatory for this position. While English proficiency is essential, experience in Sudan or similar contexts, as well as familiarity with Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services, are desirable. Proficiency in Arabic is also considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
