Job Overview:
The RCCE Coordinator will play a crucial role in the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly in the context of the ongoing outbreak that has affected multiple provinces. This position involves providing strategic technical leadership and operational support for Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) programming. The coordinator will oversee community-based RCCE activities, ensuring that they are responsive to community needs and aligned with IRC's Emergency Response Framework. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including community leaders, health authorities, and other sectors, to enhance the effectiveness of the Ebola response. The RCCE Coordinator will also be responsible for integrating accountability and safeguarding measures into the RCCE programming, ensuring that community feedback is systematically documented and used to adapt activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The RCCE Coordinator's main responsibilities include leading the implementation of the RCCE strategy for the Ebola response, managing the RCCE team, and ensuring quality standards in program delivery. The coordinator will be tasked with developing work plans, conducting capacity building for community engagement, and monitoring the effectiveness of RCCE activities. Key duties include overseeing the recruitment and training of RCCE staff, ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control procedures, and fostering collaboration among various sectors involved in the response. The coordinator will also be responsible for stakeholder coordination, representing IRC in key response forums, and maintaining relationships with UN and NGO partners to promote strong coordination and information sharing.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the RCCE Coordinator position should possess a background in social and behavior change, health promotion, or community engagement, with a strong emphasis on experience in leading community-based communication activities during public health emergencies. Highly desired qualifications include prior experience in Ebola or other viral hemorrhagic fever responses, knowledge of RCCE frameworks, and experience in outbreak settings. Strong leadership, management, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in stressful and insecure environments.
