Job Overview:
The Nutrition Officer will work under the guidance of the Nutrition Manager to provide technical support for the integration and delivery of high-impact nutrition interventions at both national and sub-national levels. The role involves supporting the implementation of the Nutrition SBC Strategy and Campaign, as well as Food System interventions aimed at enhancing dietary diversity and improving maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN). The officer will manage organizational resources efficiently, monitor results, and ensure compliance with UNICEF guidelines and donor conditions. This position is crucial for the development, planning, and implementation of nutrition programs, requiring effective partnership and advocacy for resource mobilization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for supporting nutrition program development, planning, and implementation. This includes providing technical support and coordination for the effective execution of nutrition programs, ensuring quality assurance, and monitoring results. The officer will engage in effective partnership and networking, advocating for resource mobilization and implementation of nutrition programs. Additionally, the role involves innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the nutrition sector. The officer will track and manage grant utilization, ensuring adherence to results-based principles and standards, and will be involved in the overall management of nutrition interventions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in fields such as food science and technology, nutrition, public health, or related areas. An advanced degree in these fields is considered an asset. Required skills include grants management, emergency preparedness, policy and advocacy, and partnership development. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is desirable. Experience in the agri-food or livestock sector, as well as working with UN or international development organizations, is advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as food science and technology, nutrition, public health, or nutritional epidemiology. An advanced university degree in any of these areas is preferred and considered an asset, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in nutrition and health programs.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience in health and nutrition programs is required. Candidates should have experience in implementing nutrition or food systems strengthening programs, demonstrating their capability to manage and execute projects effectively in these areas. Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is a mandatory requirement for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, or a local language, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile.
