Job Overview:
The position of Driver Services for UNDP Programme and Project Activities in Cyprus involves providing essential transportation services to support the implementation of UNDP projects and programs. The driver will be responsible for ensuring safe and timely transportation of UNDP staff, project personnel, and visitors to various locations as required. The role requires a high level of professionalism, adherence to safety regulations, and a commitment to the mission of UNDP. The driver will also be expected to maintain the vehicle in good working condition, perform routine checks, and report any issues to the relevant authorities. This position is crucial for the smooth operation of UNDP activities in Cyprus, ensuring that all logistical needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide safe and reliable transportation for UNDP staff, project personnel, and visitors to various locations as required.
• Ensure the vehicle is maintained in good working condition, including regular checks on oil, water, brakes, tires, and other essential systems.
• Report any mechanical issues or accidents to the appropriate authorities immediately.
• Maintain a log of all trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
• Adhere to all traffic regulations and safety protocols while driving.
• Assist in loading and unloading of equipment and supplies as necessary.
• Ensure the vehicle is clean and presentable at all times.
• Provide support in logistical arrangements for UNDP events and activities as needed.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth execution of project activities. 1
• Attend training sessions and workshops as required to enhance driving skills and knowledge of UNDP policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience as a driver, preferably in an international organization or NGO setting.
• Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work outside of regular hours if required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training in defensive driving or vehicle maintenance is a plus. Candidates with relevant certifications in transportation or logistics will be preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in similar roles within international organizations or development projects. Experience in providing transportation services in a multicultural environment is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Greek or Turkish is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is for a contract duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. The role is classified as an individual contractor position, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP standards. Benefits may include health insurance and other allowances as per UNDP policies.
