Job Overview:
The Branding and Physical Space Design Strategist will play a crucial role in the strategic interior renovation of UNICEF Thailand's country office. This renovation aims to modernize the office while respecting its architectural heritage and strengthening the organization's brand identity. The strategist will be responsible for translating UNICEF's brand into physical spaces that communicate its identity consistently to visitors, partners, staff, and stakeholders. The position involves developing a visual concept based on UNICEF Branding Guidelines, integrating storytelling and heritage into the design, and creating engaging visitor experiences that reflect the organization's mission and achievements. The role requires collaboration with the Operations team and supervision by the Deputy Representative Operations, focusing on enhancing the visitor experience and aligning the office design with UNICEF's values and strategic priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a visual concept based on UNICEF Branding Guidelines that translates the organization's identity, values, and strategic priorities into the physical environment.
  • Integrate storytelling, heritage, and brand experience throughout public and executive spaces.
  • Incorporate office design and brand refreshing of common areas into a high-impact visitor zone featuring historical storytelling and achievement exhibits.
  • Develop engaging visitor experiences that effectively communicate the organization’s mission, key achievements, and future vision through the physical space.
  • Unify historic preservation with modern branding to create a timeless corporate identity.
  • Design executive offices that project leadership authority while maintaining operational privacy.
  • Ensure all branding interventions comply with historic building regulations.
  • Conduct a heritage audit mapping out protected architectural features and structural limits.
  • Archive corporate history and analyze visitor traffic to optimize interactions and flows. 1
  • Refine the corporate narrative connecting the organization's historic roots to its future vision. 1
  • Design exhibition content and establish a sophisticated color and material palette. 1
  • Create non-invasive, historically sensitive signage and identifiers. 1
  • Deliver design intent documentation and conduct site visits to verify construction aligns with approved designs and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in interior design, branding, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of architectural preservation and modern design principles.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey design concepts and narratives.
  • Ability to integrate storytelling and heritage into design projects.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values, and a commitment to child rights and well-being.

Educational Background:
A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Branding, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in interior design, branding, or related fields is required. Experience in working with non-profit organizations or UN agencies is preferred. Proven track record of managing complex design projects from concept to completion is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Thai or other languages spoken in the region is considered an asset but not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is a UNV assignment, which typically involves a contract duration of 12 months. The role is full-time and based in Bangkok, Thailand. Volunteers are responsible for their own living expenses, including accommodation and schooling for children, if applicable. The cost of living in Bangkok is manageable, with access to various amenities and services. Volunteers should be prepared for the financial implications of schooling, as there are no specific allocations for educational expenses.
