Job Overview:
The Population Policy Development Specialist will play a crucial role in conducting a technical review of the current Solomon Islands National Population Policy (2017-2026) and drafting the new National Population Policy (2027-2036). This position is vital for ensuring that demographic trends are systematically integrated into national and provincial planning, which is essential for sustainable development. The specialist will work closely with the Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC) and the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office (SINSO) to align population dynamics with economic and social development goals. The role requires a deep understanding of population policies, demographic trends, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable policy recommendations.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in demography, public policy, social sciences, or a related field. A strong academic background in population studies or related disciplines is essential for this role.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in population policy development, demographic research, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations or government agencies in the Pacific region is highly desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Solomon Islands would be an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is remote, with a contract duration of 44 days. The consultant may be required to undertake in-country missions to the Solomon Islands as part of the assignment. - Facilitate workshops and consultations with stakeholders to present findings and gather feedback on the draft policy.
- Prepare and submit reports detailing the review process, findings, and recommendations for the new policy.
- Ensure that the new policy incorporates principles of human rights and gender equality.
Required Qualifications:

- Proven experience in population policy development, demographic analysis, and program implementation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into policy recommendations.
