Job Overview:
The position of International Consultancy - Communications Video Editor is crucial for supporting UNFPA's communication and advocacy goals across 23 countries. The primary objective is to establish a roster of skilled video editors who can visually capture UNFPA's work and impact through high-quality video content. The video editors will be responsible for editing video footage that documents key activities, events, and field visits, as well as creating compelling 2D animations to communicate complex topics effectively. This role requires collaboration with the communications team to understand assignment objectives and to plan the post-production workflow. The video editors will also need to enhance media for impactful visuals and deliver finalized videos in formats suitable for various platforms, ensuring that all media files are properly documented with metadata and captions. The assignment is scheduled from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027, and all work must be submitted electronically to the hiring manager at the UNFPA ESARO office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the video editor include:

• Editing video footage to document key activities, events, and field visits for UNFPA.
• Creating compelling 2D animations to visually communicate complex topics related to UNFPA's work.
• Handling comprehensive video editing tasks, including professional color correction.
• Producing thematic videos that align with UNFPA's communication priorities.
• Collaborating with the communications team to understand assignment objectives and requirements.
• Coordinating with the UNFPA team to plan the post-production workflow effectively.
• Adjusting and refining scripts collaboratively when reviewing raw video footage.
• Enhancing media to ensure high-quality, impactful visuals.
• Delivering finalized videos in formats suitable for various platforms, including social media and websites. 1
• Providing metadata and captions for each media file, including location, date, and description. 1
• Submitting digital copies of all written consent forms related to the media produced. 1
• Meeting production timelines agreed upon with the communications Regional Advisor based on the length and complexity of tasks.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 2 years of relevant experience in video editing and production.
• A portfolio link demonstrating expertise in video editing, color correction, and 2D animation.
• Proficiency in industry-standard video editing and animation software.
• Evidence of expertise in 2D animation, color correction, and script adaptation.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Access to professional editing equipment and hardware.
• Experience editing human stories through a human rights and feminist lens is desirable.
• A license or certificate showing formal training in video editing and video editing tools is also preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field, which is essential for this position. The educational background should be complemented by practical experience in video editing and production, as well as a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in video editing and production. Candidates should have a proven track record of producing high-quality video content, particularly in contexts related to human rights, gender issues, and development themes. Experience working with UN agencies, NGOs, or international organizations is highly desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational environment and challenges faced in these sectors.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is expert knowledge of English, as it is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the UNFPA team and with external stakeholders. Additionally, the ability to work in French or Portuguese (spoken and written) is preferred, as it enhances the candidate's ability to engage with diverse populations and stakeholders across different regions.
