Job Overview:
The UNV office in Namibia is looking for enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to assist with digital outreach and communication efforts. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the visibility of the UNV's work and to promote the Online Volunteering service at the country level. Volunteers will play a crucial role in raising public awareness, strengthening community engagement, and expanding the reach of the UNV programme in Namibia. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about social media, communication, and community involvement, and who are eager to contribute to meaningful projects that make a difference in their communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the UNV office's digital outreach initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a good understanding of social media platforms and digital communication strategies. Creativity and the ability to generate engaging content are essential. Volunteers should also demonstrate a commitment to community engagement and possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Familiarity with graphic design tools and video editing software is a plus, as is experience in event organization and community outreach.
Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications may not be strictly required, a background in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of digital media and its role in community engagement and outreach efforts.
Experience:
Previous experience in social media management, content creation, or community engagement is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable working in a digital environment and have a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new tools and platforms. Experience in volunteer work or involvement in community service initiatives will be considered an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication for the UNV office. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Namibia would be advantageous and could enhance engagement with diverse community groups.

- Content Creation: Develop innovative ideas and create engaging content such as posts, articles, graphics, and short videos that resonate with diverse local audiences and effectively communicate key messages and stories relevant to Namibia.
- Community Engagement: Engage with local organizations and communities to build partnerships and enhance the reach of campaigns.
- Event Support: Organize and participate in local online events, including virtual discussions, webinars, and digital storytelling sessions, to foster community involvement and dialogue.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report on engagement metrics and feedback from outreach activities to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies. Volunteers will work under the guidance of the Regional Communication Assistant and will receive necessary training, messaging guidelines, and visual assets to aid them in their roles.
