Job Overview:
The Online Volunteers will play a crucial role in supporting the digital outreach and communication efforts of the UNV office in Botswana. By doing so, the Online Volunteers will help raise public awareness about the UNV programme and strengthen community engagement through various digital platforms. The role involves promoting content, creating engaging materials, and actively participating in local online events to foster partnerships and increase the reach of campaigns.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the digital presence of the UNV office in Botswana. Key responsibilities include:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong understanding of social media platforms and digital communication strategies. They should be creative, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Familiarity with content creation tools and graphic design software is an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Educational Background:
A background in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of digital media and its role in community engagement and outreach efforts. Relevant coursework or certifications in social media management or digital marketing would be beneficial.
Experience:
While prior experience in social media management or digital communication is advantageous, it is not strictly required. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges. Experience in volunteer work or community engagement initiatives will be considered a plus, as it aligns with the mission of the UNV organization.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the UNV office. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Botswana would be considered an asset, as it would enhance engagement with diverse communities.

- Content Creation: Developing creative ideas and producing engaging content such as posts, articles, graphics, and short videos that resonate with diverse local audiences and effectively communicate key messages and stories relevant to Botswana.
- Community Engagement: Actively engaging with local organizations and communities to build partnerships and expand the reach of campaigns.
- Event Support: Organizing and participating in local online events, including virtual discussions, webinars, and digital storytelling sessions to enhance community involvement.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Monitoring engagement metrics and gathering feedback from outreach activities to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies. The Online Volunteers will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and will receive necessary training, messaging guidelines, and visual assets to support their efforts.
