Job Overview:
The position of Mentor for Interns in Humanitarian Coordination and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at UNFPA Burundi is designed to provide guidance and support to interns as they navigate their roles within the organization. The mentor will play a crucial role in helping interns understand the operations of UNFPA, particularly in the humanitarian sector and in combating GBV. This role involves facilitating the interns' integration into the UN system, enhancing their professional skills, and ensuring they are equipped to contribute effectively to the organization's mission. The mentor will assist in various activities, including awareness campaigns, data collection and analysis, report preparation, and resource mobilization for humanitarian projects. The overarching goal is to foster a supportive learning environment that enables interns to develop their competencies and make meaningful contributions to UNFPA's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The mentor's primary responsibilities include:

• Assisting interns in familiarizing themselves with UNFPA's work in Burundi, especially in humanitarian efforts and GBV prevention.
• Supporting the team in organizing awareness, prevention, and response activities related to GBV within targeted communities.
• Contributing to the collection, entry, and analysis of data concerning GBV cases and their referrals.
• Participating in the preparation of monthly, narrative, and emergency reports related to humanitarian responses and GBV protection.
• Providing support for resource mobilization efforts for emergency humanitarian and GBV projects.
• Assisting in logistical and administrative preparations for activities such as workshops, training sessions, and campaigns.
• Attending inter-agency coordination meetings, the GBV Sub-Cluster, and the Protection Cluster, taking notes, and following up on recommendations.
• Contributing to the preparation and facilitation of capacity-building workshops for staff and humanitarian partners on minimum standards for GBV care in emergencies.
• Offering support in other intervention areas as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the mentor position should possess a strong understanding of humanitarian principles and gender-based violence issues. They should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting the professional development of interns are essential. Educational Background:

Experience:

Languages:

The position is part-time and may involve flexible working hours to accommodate the interns' schedules.
