Job Overview:
The Information Management and MEAL Officer plays a crucial role in the Danish Refugee Council's operations in Türkiye, specifically focusing on the management and maintenance of the Integrated Information Management System (IMS). This position combines responsibilities in Information Management (IM) and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL). The officer will ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting, which are essential for enhancing program quality and accountability. The role involves providing training to staff, maintaining a centralized source of information, and supporting the implementation of MEAL processes across the country. The officer will work closely with various teams, including MEAL, program, grants, and field office teams, to ensure effective data management and reporting that supports evidence-based decision-making and organizational learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management and MEAL Officer include overseeing the Integrated Information Management System (IMS), ensuring its regular maintenance and improvements, and developing new tools to meet data collection needs. The officer will conduct training sessions for staff on using IMS tools, ensure compliance with data protection regulations, and lead enhancements in collaboration with external service providers. Additionally, the officer will perform data quality checks, conduct data cleaning and analysis, and develop data presentation methods such as dashboards. The officer will also be responsible for updating project trackers, compiling data for reports, and supporting the MEAL Manager in designing data collection methodologies. The role requires close coordination with various teams to ensure that all reporting obligations are met and that program activities comply with DRC's accountability principles.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must possess a university degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Statistics, or a relevant field. Additionally, at least three years of experience in information management, database management, or related fields within national or international NGOs is required. Strong skills in designing and managing data collection tools, particularly using KOBO Toolbox, and proficiency in at least one data visualization tool such as PowerBI are essential. Candidates should also have strong data analytical skills in Excel, SPSS, or similar platforms. Proficiency in English is mandatory, while fluency in Turkish or Arabic is also required, with one language being fluent and the other considered an asset.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Information Management and MEAL Officer position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related discipline. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the technical aspects of information management and data analysis, which are central to the role.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in information management, database management, or related fields, preferably within national or international NGOs. This experience should include practical knowledge of data collection methodologies, data analysis, and reporting processes, as well as familiarity with the tools and technologies used in information management.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Additionally, candidates must be fluent in either Turkish or Arabic, with proficiency in one language being essential and the other considered an asset. This linguistic requirement is important for effective communication with local stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is set until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and performance. The position is classified as Band H – Non-Manager and is a full-time role based at the DRC Türkiye Country Office in Gaziantep. The successful candidate is expected to work full-time from the office, and permanent remote work arrangements are not applicable. DRC offers a one-time relocation allowance to successful candidates if applicable. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for nationals.
