Job Overview:
The Project Manager, Management & Operations (M&O) will work under the direction of the Associate Director, M&O, to plan, execute, and finalize project tasks for a large, multi-country global health initiative funded by the United States Government (USG). This role involves acquiring resources and coordinating efforts among HQ team members to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget. The Project Manager will also serve as a point of contact for operational challenges and collaborate with various FHI 360 service units to facilitate smooth project operations. Although primarily focused on central-level management, the Project Manager may provide support to country teams as needed, ensuring that all project activities align with organizational goals and donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the development of Core workplans and initiatives from initiation to completion. This includes contributing to the creation of project management tools for efficient monitoring and execution. The Project Manager will work closely with technical and program management teams to resolve issues, ensuring that the project remains on schedule and within budget. Regular monitoring of contractual deliverables is essential, as is managing select Core-funded initiatives with a focus on minimizing risks and monitoring budgets. The Project Manager will troubleshoot issues with project staff and enterprise services, maintain communication with partners, and may provide backup support for country project management. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of Core activity reports and ensuring that all project personnel receive appropriate orientation to the organization and project systems.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Communication, Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, or Youth. A Project Management (PM) Certification is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and practices, as well as strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication abilities are essential, along with demonstrated project and personnel management skills. The ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate with others is crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in relevant fields is required. Candidates with a Project Management Certification will have an advantage. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in areas pertinent to project management and operations within the health sector or related fields.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in project management principles and practices, with at least 2 years in a management role. Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private sector organization is essential. Experience in international or domestic program development or project management is preferred, indicating a strong understanding of the complexities involved in managing large-scale projects.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in a second language such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, or Arabic is considered an added advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments.
Additional Notes:
This position is contingent on donor funding and may involve travel requirements of 10% to 25%. The expected salary range for this role is between USD $90,000 and $110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. FHI 360 offers a competitive benefits package, including a 7% contribution to a pension plan, 18 days of paid vacation, 12 sick days, and 11 holidays per year for full-time employees.
