Job Overview:
The position of Mentor for Interns in Climate and Environment at UNFPA Burundi is designed to provide guidance and support to interns as they navigate their professional careers within the context of the UN's work in Burundi. This role is part of UNFPA's 9th Cooperation Program for Burundi, which spans from 2024 to 2027, and aims to enhance the quality of reproductive health services while addressing environmental challenges. The mentor will facilitate the interns' immersion in the UN system, providing them with a comprehensive package of professional development opportunities, including workshops, training sessions, and exposure to various UN initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the mentor include:

• Assisting interns in familiarizing themselves with UNFPA's work in Burundi, particularly in the areas of climate and environment.
• Providing technical support for the integration of environmental and climate issues into the implementation of the 9th Cooperation Program.
• Contributing to the collection and analysis of data related to the vulnerability of populations to climate shocks.
• Participating in the drafting of technical notes, situation reports, and project proposals related to climate resilience.
• Engaging in advocacy and community awareness activities focused on climate justice and health.
• Assisting in the preparation of working meetings, workshops, and partnerships with national environmental stakeholders.
• Offering support in other areas of intervention as needed, ensuring a holistic approach to the interns' development and learning.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the mentor position should possess a strong understanding of the linkages between climate change, health, and gender issues. They should have experience working in the field of climate and environment, particularly in relation to sexual and reproductive health. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young professionals and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Burundi.
