Job Overview:
The Senior Program Manager (SPM) is responsible for the day-to-day operational and technical leadership of CHAI's cervical cancer program. This role involves guiding associates and senior associates, ensuring quality assurance of outputs, and representing the program in technical coordination with CHAI's global diagnostics team and other teams. The SPM will manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including Unitaid and WHO, and will be recognized as a subject-matter expert in cervical cancer prevention. The position requires a blend of people management, technical review, and direct ownership of workstreams, acting as a crucial link between country-facing staff and Director-level strategy. The role is flexible in terms of location, with a preference for being based in a program country, and involves an estimated 20% international travel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The SPM's responsibilities include guiding associates and senior associates in responding to country requests, reviewing and quality-assuring outputs, monitoring country support requests, providing technical and managerial oversight on costing and financing workstreams, leading the development of proposals for funding opportunities, managing program reporting and financial management, and directly managing a small team. The SPM will also refine the program's diagnostics strategy, support country teams in deploying AI-assisted screening tools, and represent CHAI in WHO’s cervical cancer Guidelines Development Group. Additional responsibilities include addressing emerging priorities and undertaking tasks as requested by the line manager to advance program objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, effective project and people management abilities, an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, and experience in fundraising and resource mobilization. They should be results-driven and able to manage complex, multi-workstream initiatives while fostering collaboration across a matrixed organization.
Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as MBA, MPH, or a related discipline is required for this position.
Experience:
Candidates should have 7-8 years of progressively responsible experience in global health, management consulting, or a related field. Demonstrated experience leading global or multi-country teams and managing complex, high-value grant portfolios is essential, along with a proven track record in country programs, product access, or health financing within low- and middle-income country contexts.
Languages:
Professional fluency in English is mandatory. Additional language skills are considered an advantage, particularly in languages relevant to the regions where CHAI operates.
