Job Overview:
The State Engagement Lead for the Type 1 Diabetes Program at WJCF is a pivotal role that involves driving the implementation of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) services across public health facilities in India. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of the state's public health system, governance structures, and the barriers to care that individuals with T1D face. The lead will be responsible for designing and operationalizing program interventions, shaping the implementation model, and facilitating stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality and sustainable care delivery. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, be flexible, and have a strong commitment to excellence, working independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead WJCF and its T1D program with state government stakeholders, ensuring alignment on ongoing interventions and proposed new initiatives.
• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with senior officials in the Department of Health, NHM, and State Health Corporation to expedite necessary approvals.
• Support government budgeting and planning through NHM and the State Health Corporation to ensure sustained access to essential drugs and diagnostics for T1D management.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director (NCDs) to develop the program strategy and implementation plan for the state.
• Oversee day-to-day program implementation at the state level, coordinating with the state program team and field staff.
• Support district-level roll-out and monitoring by engaging district administrators and health officials.
• Strengthen the capacity of state and district health staff through training and mentoring.
• Represent WJCF in state-level technical working groups and forums on NCDs and T1D.
• Coordinate with other development partners to align activities and leverage resources. 1
• Identify programmatic and operational risks, designing mitigation plans to ensure program continuity. 1
• Design and operate systems for collecting and managing programmatic data, using results to monitor progress. 1
• Develop presentations, progress narratives, and reports for stakeholders, traveling within the state as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in any domain, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in a demanding, results-oriented environment. They should demonstrate the ability to manage large projects, project design, and team management, with experience working with government stakeholders and familiarity with the Indian public health system. Candidates must also be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Advanced proficiency in project management tools and maintaining accountability trackers is essential, along with the ability to synthesize a broad range of information, including technical data.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in any relevant field is required for this position. The educational background should ideally be complemented by experience in public health, project management, or related domains that enhance the candidate's ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, particularly in managing large projects and working within a results-oriented environment. Experience in the Indian public health system and with government stakeholders is crucial, as is the ability to manage teams and projects effectively.

Languages:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi are mandatory for this position. Preference will be given to candidates who are also versed in local languages or dialects, which can enhance communication and engagement with diverse communities.
