Job Overview:
The Communications and Resource Mobilisation Associate will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and stakeholder engagement of UNFPA's initiatives in Odisha. This position involves executing a comprehensive communications strategy tailored to the state, which includes drafting and designing communication materials, developing compelling content that highlights UNFPA's work, and coordinating with various stakeholders to amplify programmatic impacts. The Associate will also support resource mobilization efforts by researching potential funding opportunities, assisting in the preparation of donor reports, and engaging with government departments for financing. The role requires a blend of creativity in communication and strategic thinking in resource mobilization, ensuring that UNFPA's mission and objectives are effectively communicated and supported.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: executing a state-specific communications strategy; drafting and designing communication materials such as factsheets, presentations, and infographics; developing content for reports and newsletters; maintaining a media contact database; coordinating social media content; organizing events and workshops; supporting the implementation of the resource mobilization strategy; researching potential donors; assisting in drafting funding proposals; preparing donor reports; and performing any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor. The role requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines. Proficiency in communication tools such as Canva and familiarity with Adobe Suite or other design tools is advantageous. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of communications and resource mobilization strategies, as well as the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles of communication and resource mobilization within the context of international development.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or resource mobilization, preferably within the context of international organizations or NGOs. Experience in drafting communication materials, engaging with media, and supporting fundraising efforts is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN system and its operations will be an added advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages, particularly Odia, is highly desirable and will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local stakeholders and communities effectively.
Additional Notes:
This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding and operational necessity, with no expectation of renewal. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA) is INR 70,158.41, with additional benefits including health insurance, annual leave, and access to learning resources. The living conditions in Bhubaneswar are moderate, with good infrastructure and connectivity.
