Job Overview:
The Finance Assistant position at DRC is a critical role that supports the financial operations of the organization in Ukraine. Reporting directly to the Finance Team Leader, the Finance Assistant is tasked with ensuring the smooth day-to-day financial operations of the office. This includes a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting the implementation of DRC's program activities. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of financial processes, as the Finance Assistant will be responsible for reviewing financial documentation to ensure compliance with DRC's internal procedures, donor requirements, and applicable legislation. The position also involves maintaining accurate financial records, expense journals, and cash books, which are essential for effective financial management. The Finance Assistant will play a vital role in preparing documentation for financial reporting and audits, thereby contributing to the overall transparency and accountability of DRC's financial operations. Collaboration with other departments is also a key aspect of this role, as the Finance Assistant will work closely with various teams to ensure effective financial administration of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: reviewing financial documentation for compliance with DRC internal procedures and donor requirements; ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in Microsoft Dynamics; maintaining financial records, expense journals, and cash books; verifying the completeness of supporting documentation for payments and reporting purposes; ensuring proper filing, organization, and archiving of financial documentation; preparing documentation required for financial reporting and audits; supporting the Finance Team Leader in carrying out day-to-day tasks and implementing the organization's financial procedures; and collaborating with other departments to ensure effective financial administration of projects. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of DRC's financial operations and ensuring that all financial activities are conducted in accordance with established guidelines and standards.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Finance Assistant position, candidates must possess a full higher education in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat. Accuracy and attention to detail in document preparation are crucial for this role, as is a strong understanding of tax legislation. Candidates should also exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Finance Assistant position includes a full higher education degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of financial management and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Experience:
Candidates for the Finance Assistant position should have at least 1-2 years of experience in the finance field, which includes maintaining day-to-day financial records. Experience working in an NGO is considered an advantage, as it provides valuable insights into the unique financial challenges and requirements of non-profit organizations.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in English at an intermediate level. Additional Notes:
The Finance Assistant position is offered on a contract basis, with an initial length of 3 months as a probation period. There is a possibility of extension depending on performance and funding availability. The position is classified as a non-management role within Band I. The designated duty station for this position is Sumy, Ukraine, and the start date is as soon as possible. The salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts, starting from EUR 1465 gross per month, which may vary based on experience and qualifications.
