Job Overview:
The Communications Associate for Gender & GBV will play a vital role in UNFPA Cambodia's gender-based violence program, which is part of the ACCESS 2 Program funded by the Australian Government. This position is crucial for reducing gender-based violence and harmful social norms in Cambodia, where such issues are prevalent yet often under-reported. The associate will work closely with the National GBV Programme Specialist and receive technical support from an International Programme Specialist. The role involves enhancing the visibility of GBV issues through effective communication strategies, maintaining social media platforms, and ensuring that all communications adhere to ethical guidelines. The associate will also assist in outreach activities, translating materials, and documenting success stories to advocate for gender equality and raise awareness about GBV.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update social media platforms, enhancing interactivity and creativity through multimedia components.
• Provide high-quality translation and interpretation for UNFPA Cambodia's GBV-related products and events, ensuring accuracy and sensitivity in Khmer.
• Assist in organizing outreach activities, including events and campaigns, while supporting the communications and visibility efforts of the country office.
• Document success stories and human interest narratives from the field, utilizing both written and visual formats.
• Produce and translate promotional materials related to GBV, such as factsheets and brochures.
• Monitor social media trends and feedback regarding GBV to inform communication strategies.
• Foster and maintain partnerships within the GBV sector.
• Collaborate with the Communications, Advocacy and Partnership Specialist to develop GBV-related communication products, ensuring adherence to UNFPA standards and ethical guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity and sensitivity regarding GBV topics. Proficiency in Khmer and English is essential, with additional languages considered an asset. The ideal candidate should demonstrate adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ethical standards in communications. Experience in social media management and familiarity with multimedia content creation are highly desirable. Candidates should also exhibit a strong understanding of gender issues and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, social sciences, gender studies, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in gender-based violence or related areas will be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles of gender equality and human rights, as well as familiarity with UNFPA's mission and objectives.

Experience:
The position requires at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in communications, advocacy, or a related field, preferably within the context of gender-based violence or women's rights. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful communication strategies and outreach initiatives, particularly in sensitive areas such as GBV.

Languages:
Fluency in Khmer is mandatory, with proficiency in English required. Knowledge of additional languages is considered beneficial, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
